Sustainability: This coffee is the result of a close collaboration with local community leaders in Guji. With deep respect for the region's rich coffee culture, the farm focuses on regenerative agriculture, knowledge exchange, and sustainable processing methods.
Guji is a rugged, mountainous region in southern Ethiopia, known for its dense forests and deep-rooted coffee tradition. Coffee still grows wild in parts of the region, with a history going back centuries. The Megadu coffee is expressive and rich, with notes of ripe fruit, cacao, and toffee. Cherries are selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness and processed with great care.
The Megadu plot is part of a larger farm managed in close cooperation with local leaders Gash Duba and Ato Saffay. These respected informal leaders own most of the land and bring decades of expertise. Thanks to these partnerships, it has become possible to produce high-quality anaerobic naturals that also strengthen the local community. Processing takes place in part at their own mill, where new fermentation techniques are being explored.
